The Bible In Small Bites
Knowing what books of the Bible offers what information can help you immerse yourself better in the word of God.
The Prophetic Books
The Prophetic Books are not arranged in any chronological order. However these books can be broken into 2 sections Major and Minor. Please note this does not mean that the prophecies or prophets in the minor books are any less important than those in the major books. It simply means God chose to reveal more to the Major Prophets than the Minor Prophets. And since He’s God He can do that and we need not read more into that decision.
Major Prophetic Books
The Major Prophetic books are called major because their books are longer and the content has broad and in some cases even global implications. The Major Prophetic books are Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel.
Minor Prophetic Books
The Minor Prophetic books are called minor because their books are shorter for the most part and the content is more narrowly focused. The Minor Prophetic books are Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. These books are sometimes referred to as “the 12”.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness." -2 Timothy 3:16
